I've recently taken on a couple of programs myself, out of interest. The first one is an accounting course called "accounting for non-accounting managers" and it's a one year course ending with a certificate.
I use accounting for my work - I help companies build business strategies - and so I have to at least be able to find my way round a balance sheet and a profit and loss account. However, just lately I've definitely felt the need to have more information than just this. In particular, I have a client who is preparing their business for sale, and so they want to be sure that various accounting ratios are good.
For me, studying online is the only way - I live and work in Russia, so I can't easily attend an understandable course. So, I'm going to do some diary entries about the issues that arise from this program, how I can cope with them and what happens.
