The Future

I notice a couple of comments on one of my pre-Christmas entries, that mention the things that people do as an everyday occurrence on the Internet. Actually this morning I went sales shopping on the Internet, looking at Marks and Spencer in the UK. At present I live and work in New Zealand, just about as far away as it is possible to get from the UK, and yet I buy most of my clothes from the UK and America. And of course, I spend much of my working life using the Internet for research and for online study.

In 1995, just ten years ago, I used email, and was regarded as being quite forward looking by my peers - I'm over 50. What a change in the way we live! It seems almost impossible to live without the Internet today. What intregues me is how differently we are going to live in ten years time. Maybe we will all study online, who knows?

I wouldn't be surprised if working and studying on the Internet are just as common as campus studying and office working in the next one or two decades. More and more people are becoming proficient online, and there are a lot of advantages to doing different things over the Internet.
