I started my online Turkish course last weekend, and have spent several sessions studying it. I find it very interesting, mostly because of course it uses sound a great deal. For some reason, I am facsinated by this, and it really adds a dimension to the course that I have not experienced in online learning before.
We started by simply going through the alphabet and repeating the sounds of the letters - really interesting, as it is almost the same as the English alphabet to look at, but many of the letters are pronounced quite differently. However, it took me two sessions to get through this to my satisfaction - but just another illustration of why I like online learning, as I could repeat lessons and operations until I was entirely satisfied that I had mastered each part of the session.
It's back to my accounting course for the week, but I have to simply remind myself that I can make money out of accounting, and then I find I'm suddenly motivated!
Last week I really got involved with my online accounting program. I find that I'm enjoying the directed study, and as long as I manage to schedule the sessions, I can find the discipline to get the work done. This online accounting program is great because I'm learning things that I can immediately use in my work, so already I can see the benefit of taking it, and I can see that I will have a monetary return from it, as it expands the services I can offer to my clients.
This weekend I started my second online program, to learn Turkish. This is more from an interest point of view, although I do occasionally visit Turkey, so there are practical applications as well. Actually my first look at the course was quite intimidating, as Turkish is an unusual language, and I'm not very good at foreign languages. However, I'm going to get involved with this one and I'll report back.
