This week I've had a break from study. I've had two online courses on the go for some months, and having finished one of them, I decided to give myself a rest from the online treadmill altogether. Strangely enough, I've started to miss my study periods.
I usually spend around an hour in the morning at least three times a week, and sometimes I'll do two hours in the evening, depending on what else is happening in my life. Of course, not studying means that I stay in bed a little longer on the relevant mornings, which doesn't really benefit me at all. Evenings have been guilt-free, but on the other hand I miss the activity of studying.
It has, however, given me some perspective on the progress I've made in the last few months. Languages are not my strong point, and I took on a course in Turkish. I have felt that I was not making any progress at all, but I think this isn't true, and I'm keen, next week, to take one of the progress tests that the course provides. I then want to do some conversation with a native Turkish speaker I know, and to get their opinion of whether I am comprehensible in everyday Turkish. Watch this space.
