I'm just about to start a new job in a technical college, and I've found that they've given me the responsibility of looking after the distance learning unit (amongst other things). I suppose that this will mean that I have to preach the gospel of the converted - not difficult, because I actually like the idea of online programs, but I am fairly critical of some aspects of what some people try to claim for online learning.
Still, I suppose that this critical attitude is a healthy one, and we will see if the distance learning unit that I am responsible for benefits from it. I certainly propose to make sure that we are reasonably convinced that students will be able to both complete any online course they want to purchase, and will benefit from it.
So watch this space for gripes, complaints and other moans from the other side of the fence!!!
P.S. All the more reason for me to study other people's online courses.
