Online Journalism

I've just had a conversation with a student who is studying a journalism degree online. It never occurred to me, but their comment is that studying online is a great advantage, as so much of journalism is now aimed towards online publications - even local daily newspapers often publish online as well as on paper.

There is apparently great discussion as to how people read and absorb information online - it does vary from reading on paper, and people search differently for information. My student says that they are beginning to have a much more instinctive knowledge of how to write for the Internet because they are using it so much. An example of the medium affecting the message.

Christmas is coming

I've been looking at online programs for my next study - probably for a doctorate, but still, I do tend to get side-lined when I notice some of the really interesting online courses that you can study - particularly at this time of the year.

Did you know that you could study to create all your holiday decorations out of food stuffs? Or that you could produce all of your greetings cards using a variety of origami?

I'm thinking of studying an online course about making new and valuable presents by hand. Maybe I'll learn how to knit a new computer for my nephew.
