One group of people who really seem to be using online college courses is people with learning difficulties of some description. My online learning unit has just been asked to help with assessments for a student who has some degree of autism. He is able to study in the traditional mode for most of his degree course, and enjoys the interaction. However, some areas cause him problems, for instance business communications. He can mostly cope with the theory, but the practical parts are difficult for him.
Our online unit is designing some assessment techniques which, along with some special training of the support staff, will allow him to gain his degree easily. Just one more way that online courses can really help people to gain a good education.
