There seems to be a great deal of publicity around producing lectures that can be played as podcasts. I think this is a great idea, and one of the advantages of studying online programs. Podcasts mean that you can spend time listening to a lecture when you have some peace and quiet. You can run the podcast through more than once, and if you want to concentrate on a particular area, you have chance to listen more than once to it.
I also enjoy listening to lectures more than reading them, as they have a person-to-person immediacy that is missing in the written word. For me, listening to a lecture allows me to suspend my thought processes about other things and to concentrate on the voice and the subject.
I hope that this kind of flexibility comes into my own online program, I'd really enjoy listening to my lectures on an iPod.
