Lazy Sunday

I'm feeling really lazy today, and I'm not going to do any work whatsoever. This is a total turn around from yesterday when I wanted to do reading and get on with stuff for my online program.

But some days you just wake up and know that you can't make yourself work. And today I couldn't even get myself out of bed at my normal 8 o'clock Sunday time, so that's it really.

However, tomorrow is another day.......

Internet Advantages

I'm looking forward to the weekend again, with some space to get myself organised and to do some real reading for my online program. Actually I do enjoy my reading weekends. It's relatively easy just to read the lectures and do the assignments, but background reading is so crucial to what I'm doing, so I have to make sure that I make space for it.

I also spend time doing research - mainly on the Internet in the first place, but often this leads me to other areas of research as well. I wonder how people ever got started on research before we had the Internet, it makes life so easy to find articles, references and even sometimes books that I need for my program.

Online Acceptance

9% of degree programs are online enrolments, according to the Washington Post. That's quite an impressive growth for a form of education that was not in existance some 20 years ago. The growth of online programs is impressive, and it looks like the rate of growth is likely to increase year on year for some years to come.

Interestingly it's taking time for some of the more traditional re-brick universities to accept this new mode of study, but the technology institutions are beginning to offer masters degrees online. Some professional bodies have problems with acceptance, however they are starting to accept that if the online programs are offered by bodies that they accept traditional degrees from, they have to consider that the standards for online degrees are the same.

Final Definition

I'm working hard on an assignment that will result in my proposition for my online PhD. Not only is this really hard work, it is very scary to define what I'm going to be spending some years to achieve. I find that I cannot concentrate on defining the subject, my mind wanders to the problems of how I'll sustain the work, and if I run out of material for this particular definition.

Still, it has to be done, so nose to the grindstone.
