Online assessment is good for some subjects - if you are required to write an essay then you can work and submit it online in exactly the same way whether you are studying in the classroom or online. However practicals are much more difficult, and in many cases this kind of assessment, or indeed any supervised assessment is done by the student visiting a campus of some description.
The major point is that assessment is done well and in a suitable format for the subject and the necessary nature of the assessment, whether the materials are delivered online or in the classroom. These issues need to be looked at carefully, because if they are miss-handled they can compromise the nature of online programs.
