Temptation

Well into Saturday now, and I've not picked up a book about my online program so far. However, I'm sat at my PC doing home administration, paying bills and checking some statements, and obviously writing this blog. Maybe I should just log on and see what messages are through from online college...

No, I'm going to be resolute. I need to take a break, as I have some decisions to make about the direction of the next stage of my program, and I know that this kind of subconscious processing time helps me to reach a good decision. I'm even trying not to think about the decision until late Sunday evening, so the less I look at study work the better.

Online Contemplation

I'm having another weekend off work - well, off my online program anyway. I've had a good long intensive period of study, and I've finished a course with no deadline as to what I need to do next.

So I'm planning a gentle weekend of housework and contemplation. I have a feeling that this will be quite productive for my studies however, as I often find that taking this kind of a break at a suitable point allows me to absorb and organise new knowledge so that it becomes more readily available for me to use in the context of other work.

So here's hoping!

Online Children

Did you know that according to the Bureau of Labor, the higher your qualifications, the more likely your children are to gain higher qualifications? This is good news as far as their career prospects are concerned, because there is a statistical relationship between qualifications and higher salaries.

This seems sort of obvious to me;apparently there is a very close relationship between parent qualifications and children's incomes. So if you want to make sure that you give your children every possible advantage, one way to do it is to study.

Online degrees make sense, particularly if you have very onerous social obligations like a family. So renrol on an online degree, and assure your childrens' future.

Catching Up

Hmmm, delete my thoughts about my weekend. First, it started to rain on Saturday morning, so no sitting on the deck - but every excuse to light a fire and sit and read. However, life is never so straight forward. I realised that I had an online assignment to finish by the end of this week, and hadn't done a major part of the research necessary. So I settled down to this, and by Saturday night had the whole thing sketched out, although not written up.

Sunday morning, I decided to start my reading for real. So I took my bath, and then I was horrified to find that the drain was blocked and my lawn resembled a bog. I spent two hours unblocking it by which time I needed a shower again. I then had an early lunch, so that I could work all the way through the afternoon.

After lunch, I settled down to start my reading and within 20 minutes my neighbor decided to make my acquaintance. An hour later I settled down........

So, just a quarter the time I had hoped for background reading. But it's life, and if I wasn't studying an online program, it would be even harder to catch up.
